Sustainability - Manifesto

at Katharine Hamnett

MAKING CLOTHES FOR THE
GOOD OF ALL LIVING THINGS

Inspired by the Buddhist concept of Right Livelihood; “ethical business behaviour, making a living in a way that does no harm to people and the natural world”, manufacturing sustainably has been at the core of our business since 1989.

We are committed to…

Making clothes ethically and as environmentally as possible, preserving traditional skills.

Making all design decisions based on the premise that the environmental impact of a product is decided at design stage.

Using sustainable raw materials.

Durable quality and durable style.

Making in the EU, supporting local manufacturing.

Promoting good labour standards and working with Fair Wear Foundation to continuously improve our performance.

Ensuring that all dyeing and processing is at a minimum in compliance with REACH, while aiming for GOTS certified.

Reimagining waste.

Cutting our carbon emissions by producing in the EU, where the highest proportion of our customer base is.

Being completely traceable and transparent by 2020.

Proving that changing the industry from within is possible.

We will always look for ways to lessen our impact and implement solutions.
